Liquid wallpaper for walls.

This material is one of the types of decorative plaster. The composition of liquid wallpaper includes: cellulose fibers and silk. And in order to give them a beautiful look, various dyes and all kinds of decorative fillers are added to them, for example, sparkles or granules. To fix the wallpaper on the walls, you need to use KMS glue, which is most often used for gluing ordinary wallpaper.

Advantages of liquid wallpaper over conventional roll wallpaper:

— they can be applied to a different surface, even not at all smooth, but sometimes this can be a negative side, since all the bumps or defects will eventually appear on the surface;

— it is possible to combine them and make applications on the walls;

— as a result, the result is similar to very high-quality wallpaper.

The only drawback is that such wallpapers have is their high price. Because, before applying them, you need to very well treat the surface on which liquid wallpaper will be applied.

Proper application of liquid wallpaper

In addition to the instructions, it is important to pay attention to important points that are not in instructions.

Basic requirements for the finished surface:

— homogeneous mixture;

— moisture resistant surface; white background color or close to the color of the wallpaper itself;

— there should be no recesses, drops, more than 3 mm per meter of the wall.

— strength.

First you need to get rid of all old materials, remove wallpaper, paint or peeling plaster. Anything that may eventually peel off along with the new coating must be removed. Also remove any studs that are sticking out, screws or other metal elements from the walls. If fittings or pipes protrude on the surface, then they need to be repaired so that it was not visible. To completely level the surface, you need a huge amount of plaster or wall cladding. If this is not done, then when you apply liquid wallpaper, their consumption will increase significantly. The best option to level the wall would be a uniform layer of gypsum putty. This also applies to plasterboard walls and partitions. When the surface is well leveled, it needs to be primed. You need to apply it in 2-3 visits with breaks of 3 hours. Only after all operations have been carried out, can thick putty be applied under liquid wallpaper. To do this, you can use water-based paint, even facade.

Preparation of liquid wallpaper

You need to prepare liquid wallpaper earlier before use, somewhere, 6-12 hours before. The wallpaper data package contains the following substances: cellulose or silk fibers; decorative fillers; dry glue KMS. All elements can be in different packages, or mixed all in one. If everything is different, then pour each bag dry into a large container or onto polyethylene 1X1.5 meters and mix well. Fluff everything gently and not crumple.

Liquid wallpaper that is mixed in advance is enough to just fluff it up before adding it to the water.

The required amount of water is indicated in the instructions. Do not mix two bags in one kneading. In no case should you mix half the package. If all these rules are violated, it can lead to uneven coloring and the wrong consistency. It's best to mix everything with your hands. If you mix the solution with a drill with a mixing nozzle, this will have a bad effect on liquid wallpaper. When the whole mass is well saturated with water, you can leave the solution for a certain period of time. In order for the glue to completely soften the wallpaper and bind all the fibers, liquid wallpaper should stand for half a day. Best of all, the wallpaper can be divided into portions to cover the entire area or at least one wall. What remains after painting one wall can be added to the solution for the next application. When the wallpaper is finished, it can be stored for many hours, and if the wallpaper is closed, it can last more than two weeks.

To apply liquid wallpaper, it is important to use a grater, spatula or spray gun. You can simply pick up the solution with your hands or with a small spatula. Further, the portion is immediately applied to the wall or to the desired tool and rubbed along the wall. The layer should be equal to 2-3 mm thick. But there are some types of wallpaper that need to be applied in a much thinner layer, this should be indicated in the instructions.

When liquid wallpaper is applied, it plays a big role in which direction the grater or spatula moves. After all, it depends on how the fibers will be laid. If you apply liquid wallpaper all the time on one wall in one direction, and on the next in another direction, for example, 45 degrees, you can get different background patterns.

If you still have liquid wallpaper, you don't need them to throw away immediately. They can be used to correct small errors after drying. To make liquid wallpaper durable, a layer of acrylic, colorless varnish can be applied on top. The result is almost washing wallpaper.
